Paris, France — In a decisive move to reinforce global environmental cooperation, China and France have renewed their commitment to combating climate change and promoting sustainable development. This came during the 10th China-France High-Level Economic and Financial Dialogue held in Paris, where leaders from both countries emphasized the need for unified, ambitious climate action amid growing global challenges.

Vice Premier He Lifeng of China and France’s Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty, Eric Lombard, stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to safeguard a cooperative international economic environment that supports green growth and environmental protection.

Speaking in the political and economic hub of Europe, Vice Premier He stated, “China and France share a crucial responsibility to lead by example on sustainable development. Strengthening bilateral economic cooperation will inject new vitality into our partnership and accelerate progress toward climate goals.”

Minister Lombard highlighted France’s dedication to expanding environmentally conscious business opportunities. He underscored France’s commitment to offering high-quality green products for Chinese consumers and creating a more attractive business climate for Chinese investors focused on sustainable industries.

During the dialogue, both countries signed cooperation agreements in areas such as poultry meat and breeding, reflecting the growing breadth of Sino-French economic relations infused with sustainability principles. Vice Premier He also visited French family farms and met representatives from sectors including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and aviation—sectors increasingly embracing environmental responsibility.

This enhanced collaboration aligns closely with China’s ambitious targets to peak carbon emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. It also complements France’s leadership within the European Union on climate policy and its commitment to reducing greenhouse gases.

As environmental challenges mount worldwide, the Paris dialogue highlights the power of international partnerships in driving green innovation, sustainable trade, and resilient economic development. Together, China and France aim to set a precedent that inspires other nations to intensify climate action through cooperation and shared expertise.

By integrating economic growth with environmental stewardship, this renewed alliance strengthens the global effort to fulfill the Paris Agreement and advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
